Terms such as permeability, flexibility, leg control, bend and position have long been familiar to the modern western rider and instructor. The exercises in this book, which have proven themselves in Hubertus Ott's many years of practice as a trainer, are arranged in ascending order of difficulty so that the training can be organized methodically. The aim is a systematic training of rider and horse, which not only leads to appropriate performance in competition sports, but also promises more enjoyable rides for the cross-country rider.
The exercises are explained clearly and understandably using graphics, so that everyone can vary their own training work. In addition to basic rideability exercises (transitions, track figures, gymnastics, etc.), general horsemanship and trail tasks are also included, as well as horsemanship and cross-country tasks for the bronze western riding badge.
The author grew up in his parents' FN riding school in Wyk/Föhr, but discovered his love for western riding in the 80s. After working with well-known US trainers, Hubertus Ott became self-employed as a western trainer and breeder of western horse breeds in the early 1990s. An EWU and later NRHA judge since 1992, he led numerous seminars and courses and was actively involved in the development of the rule book and the restructuring of the EWU tournament class system. Hubertus Ott died unexpectedly in 2006.
